Protecting Your Computer
When it comes to computers and the internet, we all have to deal with these things in our day to day lives. That being said, we don’t always have all of the information we need to operate our delicate machines responsibly, and there are a lot of hazards out there. So, it can be helpful to remind the tech savvy among us, but, more importantly, I’d like to inform those of us who don’t really know how to take care of our computers.
First and foremost, you need to learn the hardware of your machine. Just a little bit. Just to keep it from breaking down on you. For example, laptops are wireless, but the battery has to be charged. What you may not realize, though, is that they also need to be kept off charge, too, in order for the battery to not be over charged. Over charging your laptop battery does nothing for you, but it can irreversibly damage your battery. This is a huge problem when that information isn’t widely known, but it’s also extremely avoidable once you do know. There are many situations like this you’ll want to expose yourself to in order to better care for your computer.
Another facet of caring for your machine is virus protection. You’ll want to avoid websites that may not be safe, which means, in essence, stick to popular and reputable sites. These tend to be the most virus free. However, you will eventually slip up and incur some viruses without an anti virus software like Kaspersky’s internet security software. And, speaking of security, you’ll want to diversify the passwords of your many accounts. It can be tempting to use the same password that you can easily remember, but it’s worth writing down all your different passwords once you realize that your one size fits all password means that hacking you in one place is hacking you everywhere.
